Got to photograph puppies today… :)
Yes, this is a Cardigan Corgi puppy. He is sort of a surprise puppy in that he’s a dudley - commonly known as liver - which isn’t an accepted color in our breed but does occur. Sneaky color genetics sometimes! It was a shock, because no one suspected mom (blue merle) carried this in her background.
He’s gorgeous and awesome and super well structured — just a color that’s not accepted for the show ring in the breed in the States.
Edit: Oh man, I can’t figure out how to reply to someone in Tumblr - but no, he’s not ee - which is a clear red, or what Cardigan folks call “Pink.” (Which is a color I’ve never gotten to photograph, but I’d love to!) This little guy is the dilute gene working on black, so there’s BB (which gives us black) Bb, who carries the dilute gene but it doesn’t express… and bb (dilute over black, which is what this fellow is - a liver/chocolate.) Cardigan colors are fun! :D
